Description
International Harvester Scout 80 4×4 — Early 1960s 3-Speed, 152ci Inline-Four
This International Harvester Scout 80 4×4 is an early-style example, featuring sliding windows, a classic “IH” logo on the tailgate, and a beige exterior paired with a black hardtop. It has been refurbished and retains a lot of the charm and simplicity that made the Scout an icon of early American off-roading.
Exterior & Wheels
The Scout is finished in beige paint, complemented by the removable black hardtop. 15″ wheels are fitted with 31×10.50″ Corsa All Terrain XL tires, giving the Scout capable ground clearance and an aggressive stance. LED taillights modernize the rear, while the body retains the classic, utilitarian lines of the original Scout.
Interior & Cabin
Inside, the bench seat is trimmed in pleated white vinyl that extends to the door panels. Floors are coated in bedliner for durability, though seatbelts are not installed. A four-spoke steering wheel fronts a combination gauge cluster with an 80-mph speedometer, whose needle is broken, and a five-digit odometer showing 43,000 miles, roughly 100 of which were added under the current ownership. The interior exudes rugged, no-nonsense charm, perfect for a classic off-road experience.
Mechanicals & Drivetrain
Power comes from a 152ci Comanche inline-four, factory rated at 93 horsepower and 135 lb-ft of torque, fed through an oil-bath air cleaner. The three-speed manual transmission and twin-stick transfer case deliver power to all four wheels, keeping this Scout true to its 4×4 roots. Four-wheel disc brakes provide stopping power, combining vintage simplicity with functional reliability.
Driving Impressions
Driving the Scout 80 is a direct, analog experience — light steering, mechanical controls, and the classic inline-four sound under the hood. Its simplicity and rugged construction make it a perfect weekend adventure vehicle or a centerpiece for a vintage off-road collection.
