This 1978 Datsun 280Z is a rare Black Pearl Edition, one of an estimated 650–750 examples produced, and believed to be one of fewer than 200 remaining today. Built in January 1978 and finished in its factory-correct Black Pearl (paint code 638) over black interior, this late-production Z represents the final year of the original Z-car lineage before the 280ZX was introduced in 1979.

Originally offered as a limited, dealer-allocated promotional model with unique striping, louvers, and aluminum wheels, the Black Pearl Edition has become a coveted collectible—and this example is a solid, garage-kept driver with tasteful modifications and long-term ownership.

Inside, the car presents nicely in original-style black vinyl. The seats show minimal wear, and the cabin is fitted with a dash cap in place of the original. Mechanical

Powered by a fuel-injected 2.8L L28 inline-six, the engine starts easily, idles smoothly, and runs well. The 5-speed manual transmission shifts cleanly.
