Description
1975 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 Diesel – Refurbished Classic 4×4
This 1975 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 is a rugged and beautifully restored example of one of the most iconic 4×4 vehicles ever made. Originally imported to Costa Rica in November 1974, this Land Cruiser has been extensively refurbished, both mechanically and cosmetically, ensuring it’s as functional as it is visually striking. The truck was purchased by the seller two years ago from the second owner, who had used it primarily as a ranch vehicle in the mountainous region of San Ramon. Since then, it has been driven across Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua before undergoing a full refurbishment to bring it to its current exceptional condition.
Key Features:
-
Engine & Performance: The factory 3.0-liter B-series diesel engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, provides the durability and dependability that the Toyota Land Cruiser is known for. The engine runs strong and starts readily, having had the fuel pump and injectors rebuilt for optimal performance. The vehicle has added approximately 200 miles since the refurbishments.
-
Recent Refurbishments:
-
Fuel System: Rebuilt fuel pump and injectors for reliable starting and performance.
-
Brakes & Battery: New brakes and batteries ensure smooth operation and reliability.
-
Bodywork: The truck was fully disassembled for the refurbishment, with small rust areas repaired before the body was repainted in a vibrant light yellow. The work was performed by Daniel’s Body Shop in Jaco, Costa Rica, including the interior and engine compartments.
-
New Wheels & Tires: Five new, original-style steel wheels have been powder-coated in grey and fitted with new hubcaps and Nankang A/T tires, enhancing both the looks and functionality of the truck.
-
-
Interior: The interior was fully refreshed with new black vinyl upholstery on the seats and dashboard. A cut-out for a removable head unit has been integrated into the dashboard, with an aftermarket gauge mounted below a modern Toyota badge.
-
Condition & Maintenance: The odometer reads 54,326 kilometers (33,757 miles), which is considered accurate by the seller and reflects the vehicle’s prior life as a ranch vehicle. This mileage is verified by the Costa Rica National Registry’s annual inspection records. The truck has been carefully maintained, with the last service performed in June, which included an oil and filter change.
Notable Modifications:
-
Ambulance Doors: The rear of the vehicle is equipped with ambulance doors for easy access to the spacious interior.
-
Tinted Windows & Mud Flaps: Additional modifications include tinted rear windows and aftermarket mud flaps, enhancing the truck’s practicality and style.
Documentation & Title:
This Land Cruiser is being offered with extensive documentation, including records from the Costa Rica National Registry, verifying the annual inspections, as well as receipts for all work performed by the seller. It also comes with a clean Louisiana title, making the vehicle ready for registration in the United States.
