The third owner acquired the car in 2000, bringing it to the Netherlands, where it remained in dry storage and saw occasional use. In 2015, the car was purchased by a dedicated Jaguar collector with a reputation for meticulous care and attention to authenticity.

It was under this fourth owner that the E-Type underwent a significant restoration, focusing on preserving originality while elevating the condition to near concours levels. Panel alignment is excellent, and the brightwork was polished or replaced as needed.

A handmade, mohair soft top was recently installed by the leading convertible top specialist in the Netherlands, replacing an already-new top the seller felt did not meet his standard. The result is a beautifully tailored fit that complements the body lines and seals properly at all contact points.

Interior

The cabin is finished in black leather, consistent with factory specifications and presenting with an elegant, gently patinated feel. The seats, carpets, door cards, and dashboard remain in excellent condition, with everything functioning as intended. Switchgear is intact, and the original instrumentation is clean and fully legible.

This Series III E-Type is fitted with a center console housing the automatic transmission shifter and climate controls, all presenting as original and unrestored. The steering wheel, pedal box, and sills show minimal wear, reflecting the careful use this car has seen since the completion of the restoration.

The 5.3-liter V12 was thoroughly inspected and serviced by the Jaguar specialist, including an overhaul of the carburetors, replacement of gaskets, belts, seals, fluids, and filters, and a comprehensive check of all mechanical components. The cooling system was inspected and serviced to ensure long-term reliability, and the suspension was addressed for comfort and composure on the road.

Since the work was completed, the car has covered only a few hundred kilometers, and it remains in excellent mechanical health. The drivetrain operates smoothly, the automatic transmission shifts cleanly, and the engine fires up with ease and idles steadily. The ride is supple, and the V12’s torque makes for effortless touring.
