1972 Pontiac LeMans Hardtop Coupe – 400ci V8, 4-Speed, Refurbished & Modified

This 1972 Pontiac LeMans hardtop coupe underwent a multi-year refurbishment between 2018 and 2020, culminating in a performance-focused build that retains its vintage muscle car character. Power comes from a modified 400ci V8 equipped with a high-performance camshaft, Edelbrock aluminum intake and cylinder heads, MSD ignition, a four-barrel carburetor, and a Painless wiring harness. The engine is paired with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled during the restoration.

The car was refinished in Anaconda Gold and features a color-keyed Endura front bumper, quad headlights, a twin-scoop hood, sport mirror housings, and long-tube headers linked to Flowmaster mufflers. It rides on 15″ Rally II wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and braking is handled by a power-assisted four-wheel disc setup installed during the refurbishment. The suspension received updated shocks, contributing to improved ride quality and handling.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with front bucket seats and a rear bench, complemented by color-coordinated carpets and faux woodgrain accents on the instrument panel and center console. A Hurst shifter sits prominently between the seats, and additional interior features include a padded dashboard and engine-turned trim. The radio and heater equipment have been removed, and the two-spoke steering wheel shows cracking. Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and fuel gauge, flanked by a nonfunctional Sun Super Tach II and aftermarket readouts for amperage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure mounted below the dash.

The five-digit odometer shows 81k miles, with fewer than 1,000 added under current ownership. This LeMans blends classic Pontiac styling with thoughtful mechanical upgrades, offering a distinctive alternative to its GTO sibling and a compelling option for enthusiasts seeking a vintage muscle car with modern performance enhancements.
