1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo – Matching Numbers, Factory Original, Two-Owner Car with 71k Miles
Offered for sale is an exceptionally well-preserved, factory-original 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. This two-owner car has been in the hands of its current owner since 1973 and has been carefully maintained ever since. Featuring all matching numbers, original paint, and a rust-free structure, this Monte Carlo represents a rare opportunity to acquire a true survivor in outstanding condition.
The car retains its factory-applied acrylic lacquer paint in Covert Tan, paired with a Black vinyl roof, and its body remains arrow-straight with excellent panel alignment throughout. The finish still holds deep gloss and uniform color, turning heads with its original charm. Chrome and brightwork are exceptional, showing minimal wear. The factory Soft Ray tinted glass is clean and clear all around.
Under the hood, the original and unmodified 350 cubic inch Turbo-Fire V8 remains untouched in the authentic engine compartment. It is paired with a Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 automatic transmission and the original differential—all confirmed as matching numbers components. This means the engine, transmission, and axle all correspond to the car’s original chassis number, confirming its factory authenticity.
The interior is just as impressive. Upholstered in original Covert vinyl, the cabin remains in pristine condition, including the dash pad, seat covers, carpet, headliner, and door panels. The instrument cluster is clean and functional, and factory features remain intact. The trunk compartment is equally untouched, still fitted with its original mat, jack cover, and the factory spare tire, which has never been used.
This Monte Carlo is equipped with a range of desirable features, including Four-Season air conditioning (updated with Freeze-12 refrigerant), dealer-installed cruise control, an AM/FM push-button radio, power steering, and power disc brakes. Other factory details include rally wheels with trim rings and center caps (all undamaged), GR70-15 Michelin radial tires, hideaway wipers, Astro Ventilation, woodgrain interior accents, a working electric clock, and functional courtesy lighting in the glove box, under the hood, and in the trunk.
Mechanically, the car runs and drives as it should, offering a smooth and composed ride that reflects the care taken to preserve its originality. The floor pans and trunk pan remain rust-free and solid—underscoring the car’s life-long maintenance and dry storage.
This Monte Carlo is a rare find for collectors seeking a completely original, unrestored car with a known ownership history and confirmed authenticity. It’s an elegant, comfortable, and highly original example of Chevrolet’s personal luxury coupe at its peak.
