Description
Custom 4-Speed 350-Powered 1970s Chevrolet K5 Blazer CST with Removable Top & 4″ Lift
This Chevrolet K5 Blazer CST is a rugged, well-sorted example of the iconic early SUV platform, featuring period-correct upgrades and modern touches while retaining its vintage off-road spirit. Originally finished in Dark Olive, this example has been refinished in a two-tone blue and white exterior, complemented by a blue vinyl and houndstooth cloth interior. Beneath the skin, a 350ci LS9 V8 is paired with a four-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case, delivering true four-wheel-drive performance.
This Blazer benefits from recent mechanical sorting and cosmetic refreshment, and is presented with a removable white double-wall hardtop, matte black 15″ American Racing Baja wheels, power steering, a 4″ suspension lift, and a series of recent upgrades and maintenance items aimed at reliability and drivability. The vehicle is now being offered with a clean Nevada title and a documented list of updates performed in 2023.
Exterior
Originally finished in Dark Olive, this K5 Blazer now sports a classic two-tone blue and white paint scheme, paired with a white removable hardtop. It retains vintage design cues including chrome bumpers, bright side moldings, and a drop-down tailgate, while also benefiting from fresh rubber seals, updated side mirrors, and new rear hatch components including the latch, striker, handle, hinges, and gas struts—all replaced in 2023. The body panels were aligned during this work as well, though some imperfections remain: the left rear corner of the hood sits slightly raised and the passenger-side vent window hinge is broken.
The aggressive stance is enhanced by a 4″ suspension lift and matte black 15″ American Racing Baja wheels, wrapped in 33×12.50″ Falken Wildpeak A/T3W all-terrain tires installed in 2023. Manually locking front hubs and power-assisted disc front brakes further reinforce this Blazer’s off-road capability.
Interior
Inside, the cabin features blue vinyl upholstery with houndstooth cloth seat inserts, combining original style with comfort. The cabin remains mostly stock, with the addition of a RetroSound Bluetooth head unit discreetly integrated into the dash for modern audio functionality. The two-spoke steering wheel shows cracking but retains its classic look and frames a 100-mph speedometer, 5,000-rpm tachometer, and supporting factory gauges.
The coolant temperature gauge was replaced in 2023, and all other instrumentation presents clearly. The five-digit odometer reads just 14,000 miles, with approximately 1,000 miles added under current ownership.
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood lies a 350ci LS9 V8, factory rated at 175 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. This engine has been enhanced with an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, aftermarket exhaust headers, and an aluminum radiator for improved cooling. In 2023, it received a rebuilt carburetor, oil change, and new spark plugs, fuel filter, and coolant reservoir. It starts readily, runs smooth, and delivers strong low-end torque—ideal for both trail use and cruising.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission, dual-range transfer case, and a rear differential with 3.73:1 gearing. A new clutch linkage was fitted in 2023, and a dual exhaust system was also installed, giving the truck a deep, classic exhaust note without being intrusive.
Chassis & Undercarriage
This K5 rides on a 4-inch suspension lift, providing ample clearance for the large all-terrain tires and enhancing off-road capabilities. Steering and suspension components were addressed in 2023, including a rebuild of the steering column, resealed steering gear, and replacement of the pitman arm and power steering fluid. The power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums perform as expected and round out a confident, trail-ready package.
