Description
1969 MGB GT – Restored British Classic with Overdrive, Factory-Correct Finish
This 1969 MGB GT is a fully restored example of the iconic British grand tourer, presented in its factory-correct British Racing Green over black interior. Originally purchased by the seller from the original owner in 1989, the car was sold a few years later before being reacquired in 2012. Since then, it has undergone a meticulous bare-shell restoration to bring it to its current exceptional condition.
The body was completely stripped, with rust-free panels fitted where necessary—including new floor pans and rockers—ensuring a solid and structurally sound foundation. The result is a car that is entirely free of rust and prior accident damage. The factory paint color was reapplied to a high standard, and the overall cosmetic condition is excellent and true to its original specification.
Under the hood, the 1.8-liter inline-four engine was fully rebuilt with new pistons, valves, bearings, and related components. For improved drivability, a later-model gearbox with overdrive was installed, offering better performance and more comfortable highway cruising. The suspension was also refreshed during the restoration, enhancing the ride and handling of the car.
With fewer than 1,000 miles driven since the restoration was completed, this MGB GT is dialed in and ready to be enjoyed. The seller reports that the car delivers strong performance, is a pleasure to drive, and is fully capable of long-distance touring.
Combining vintage British charm with practical upgrades and a careful restoration, this MGB GT offers a rare opportunity to acquire a truly sorted classic sports coupe.
