1967 Iso Rivolta IR 300 – 6.0L V8, Tremec TR-6060 6-Speed, Custom Restoration, Grigio Silverstone, Rare Classic
This 1967 Iso Rivolta IR 300 stands as an exceptional example of Italian craftsmanship and American engineering, combining the iconic design of the Iso Rivolta with modern performance upgrades. One of only 797 examples built between 1962 and 1970, this IR 300 underwent an extensive multi-year restoration that began in 2015, resulting in a refined, road-ready classic that offers the perfect blend of timeless elegance and performance. Delivered originally in the United States, this rare automobile is equipped with a 6.0-liter L76 V8 and a Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission, all meticulously installed as part of a comprehensive build that revitalized the entire car.
Restoration & Build:
In 2015, this Iso Rivolta underwent a full restoration, including a complete body rebuild. The process involved the installation of a new Pontiac G8-sourced 6.0L L76 V8 engine, paired with the Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission. The restoration also included replacement floor pans and a new transmission tunnel, along with underbody modifications to accommodate a custom suspension. The car was placed on a rotisserie and underwent repairs at Full Circle Restorations in Lockeford, California, followed by a Ferrari-sourced Grigio Silverstone respray in 2016 at Gary’s Rods & Restorations of Watsonville, California. The restoration also included a rechromed brightwork and the installation of additional refinements like polished stainless steel bumpers, hood scoop, and retractable antenna.
Powertrain:
The 6.0L L76 V8 provides plenty of power for the Iso Rivolta, with modern performance characteristics that enhance the driving experience. It features a Holley oil pan, cold-air intake, and Iso Rivolta-branded valve covers that stay true to the car’s heritage while boosting its performance. The engine is paired with the Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission, offering a smooth and engaging driving experience, with power sent to the rear wheels for optimal performance.
Exhaust gases are routed through a MagnaFlow muffler, offering a rich, satisfying exhaust note that enhances the car’s presence on the road. To improve cooling efficiency, an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans was also installed.
Suspension and Handling:
To further improve performance and driving dynamics, the car’s suspension was completely upgraded during the restoration. A Heidts Superide II independent front coilover suspension system was fitted, while a custom Jaguar-style de Dion rear axle with adjustable shocks was incorporated for superior handling and ride quality. The suspension modifications give the Rivolta a more modern, responsive feel on the road, while maintaining the classic Iso driving characteristics.
Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes featuring inboard rear units, while a Wilwood billet master cylinder and Hydratech booster ensure strong, reliable braking performance. The car also benefits from power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, offering a smooth and precise driving experience.
Wheels and Tires:
The Iso Rivolta rolls on a set of 15” Campagnolo alloy wheels that have been refurbished by Valley Wire Wheel Service of Van Nuys, California, and are mounted with Borrani center-lock hubs. These wheels are wrapped in 205/65 Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires, providing ample grip for both daily driving and spirited performance. A matching spare wheel is stowed in the trunk for added convenience.
Interior – Classic Luxury with Modern Touches:
Inside, the cabin was completely re-trimmed in 2018 by Finish Line Automotive Interiors of Santa Clara, California. The seats are covered in Paloma Cork leather, while the door panels and center console also feature the same luxurious leather. The dashboard received a contrasting black leather dash cover, while a tan Alcantara headliner and black Daytona Carpeting add additional refinement.
Additional upgrades include a VintageAir HVAC system for climate control, power windows, remote power locks, and a Europa stereo for modern convenience. A B&M shifter with a wood knob, wood dash panel, and rear fold-down armrest further contribute to the car’s rich interior experience. The rear leather speaker covers were also reupholstered during the restoration.
Instrumentation and Steering:
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a set of Veglia instrumentation that has been fully rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock in 2017. The instruments include an Iso Rivolta-branded 180-mph speedometer and a 7,000-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer was reset during the build and currently shows 4,000 miles, approximately 100 miles of which have been added under current ownership. The car is in excellent mechanical condition, and the total mileage remains unknown.
