Description
1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet 4-Speed
This 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet is a factory Reutter-bodied example finished in Ruby Red over black leather and powered by its matching-numbers 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Acquired by the current owner in 1999, the car underwent a repaint in its original color in 1997 and received interior refurbishment and ongoing mechanical servicing throughout current ownership. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ chrome steel wheels with 2024-date-coded Vredestein Sprint tires, four-wheel disc brakes, body-color bumpers with bright guards, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio.
This final-year 356C is now offered on dealer consignment with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming factory specifications, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Indiana title.
Exterior
The car was originally finished in Ruby Red (6402) and was repainted in 1997 following rust repairs that included welded patches to the front fenders and door panels. The Reutter-built cabriolet body features a black convertible soft top, Talbot Berlin side mirrors, twin engine grilles, a windshield washer system, and a front underside tow ring. Additional details include body-color bumpers with chrome overriders, chrome headlight rings, and visible bubbling and corrosion as shown in the gallery.
Chrome 15″ steel wheels wear Porsche-branded hubcaps and were mounted with 195/60 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in 2024. The car retains four-wheel disc brakes as standard for the 356C, with the rear calipers rebuilt in 2021.
Interior
The cabin features front bucket seats and rear jump seats upholstered in black leather. The dash is finished in body color and fitted with a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, analog clock, and a rebuilt set of VDO instrumentation including a central 5k-rpm redline tachometer, 120-mph speedometer, and combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. Interior appointments include a cabin heater, lap belts, Coco floor mats, and reupholstered dash padding and carpets as noted in handwritten records included in the gallery.
The five-digit odometer shows 92k miles, with approximately 93k indicated total mileage.
Powertrain
The 1.6-liter 616/15 flat-four was factory rated at 88 horsepower and 90 lb-ft of torque, and features engine stamping 710226, which matches the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The fuel pump was rebuilt in 2019. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
Documentation & Extras
This 356C Cabriolet is accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity showing factory colors and engine/transaxle numbers, handwritten service notes, spare parts, a car cover, and service records. It is offered with a clean Indiana title and has been under single-owner care since 1999.
