Description
1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe – Numbers-Matching 327/365HP L76, Muncie 4-Speed – Rare Saddle Tan – Survivor w/ Low Miles
Up for sale is my 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, a genuine numbers-matching L76 car with the factory high-performance 327ci V8 rated at 365 horsepower, paired with a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission and a 3.08:1 Positraction rear end. This Corvette is an incredibly rare combination of originality, performance, and low mileage, showing just 30,899 original miles from new. It’s a true survivor that’s been lovingly preserved, enjoyed responsibly, and maintained to a high standard.
• Rare Saddle Tan, Inside and Out
This car is finished in its original color: Saddle Tan (932AA) — a rarely seen shade in 1964. Of the 8,304 Corvette coupes built that year, only about 8% were painted in Saddle Tan, and even fewer had a matching Saddle Tan interior (490AA). You almost never see this color combo in the wild today, especially not on a numbers-matching 365HP 327 car.
The body was professionally repainted once many years ago in the factory-correct shade and still shows beautifully today. Panels are straight, gaps are tight, and the chrome trim shines nicely all around. It still wears original-style knock-off wheels that give the car a proper factory stance and a classic period-correct look.
All of the exterior trim is present and clean — bumpers, emblems, grille, and headlight doors all look great. The flip-up headlights work as they should, and the dual exhaust gives off that classic small-block rumble without being too loud. This is not a frame-off restoration, but a very well-kept car that’s never been butchered, restored into something else, or stripped of its character.
• Matching-Numbers 327/365HP L76 V8
Under the hood is the original L76 327 cubic inch V8, factory rated at 365 horsepower — one of the most potent small blocks Chevy offered that year. This was the high-compression, solid-lifter engine option for the enthusiast who wanted serious performance. It’s mated to the correct Muncie M20 4-speed manual gearbox and sends power through a 3.08 Positraction rear end — great gearing for both acceleration and highway cruising.
This drivetrain is completely numbers matching, and the engine still carries the proper suffix codes, date codes, and casting numbers. It starts easily, idles smooth, pulls hard through all gears, and sounds incredible through the factory-style dual exhaust. The car is an absolute joy to drive and delivers the kind of raw, analog muscle that defines the early Corvette experience.
• Classic Cockpit – All the Right Touches
Inside, you’re greeted by the classic Saddle Tan vinyl interior, which is in beautiful condition throughout. The bucket seats are clean and comfortable, and the interior trim is original with just the right amount of light patina to remind you this is a car with history, not a brand-new resto-mod. The dash is uncut and original, still housing the factory AM/FM radio, full working gauge cluster, tachometer, clock, and power antenna.
The 4-speed center console is factory correct, and the original steering wheel and door panels are in great condition. The carpet is tidy, the headliner is intact, and everything feels factory — no silly aftermarket mods or hacked-up wiring. Even the small things like knobs, vents, and switches show care and preservation.
• Overall Condition
This is an incredibly solid, honest car. The underside is clean and dry, the frame is straight, and there’s no sign of prior rust issues or major damage. While not a freshly restored trailer queen, it’s an extremely well-kept original car that’s been lightly refreshed where needed, carefully driven, and always garaged. The mechanicals are strong, the cosmetics are very presentable, and it’s turn-key ready to be enjoyed.
It’s rare to find a mid-year C2 Corvette with all of this going for it:
-
Numbers-matching 327/365hp L76
-
Correct 4-speed manual
-
Rare original color combo
-
Documented low mileage
-
Well-maintained & sorted
• Collector-Grade Potential
If you’re a Corvette purist or collector, you’ll know how special the L76 cars are — especially the ones that haven’t been over-restored or lost their character. This is a car you can drive and enjoy, take to shows, or preserve as a long-term investment. Saddle Tan cars hardly ever come up, and finding one this original and well-preserved is increasingly difficult.
