This 1962 Ferrari began life as a 250GTE, delivered new in Italy, and was later reimagined in the 1980s by renowned Ferrari coachbuilder Mario Allegretti into a faithful recreation of the legendary 250 GT California Spyder SWB. Crafted entirely in aluminum, the build was carried out to exceptional standards, using an original California Spyder as a reference for its exacting proportions and design.
The bodywork was finished by Ferrari specialist Egidio Bonfatti, while the tan leather interior was trimmed by Fratelli Luppi—both renowned for their work on period Ferraris. The result is a stunning, nut-and-bolt rebody that mirrors the original car in every critical detail, from its flawless Ferrari red paintwork to the correct chrome Borrani wheels and full period Veglia instrumentation.
The car is powered by a 3.0-liter SOHC V12, delivering 240 bhp and capable of achieving a top speed of 252 km/h. Built on the 250’s 2,400 mm short wheelbase chassis and weighing just 957 kg, it offers a driving experience that matches its authentic looks.
Since completion, the car has been used sparingly—primarily on special occasions by its current elderly owner, who commissioned the build. The odometer shows just 4,700 km since the rebody, and the car remains in exceptional condition both mechanically and cosmetically.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to own a beautifully executed, coachbuilt recreation of one of Ferrari’s most iconic models, built by respected hands and finished to a standard that makes it nearly indistinguishable from the original.
