Description
1960 Chevrolet Corvette – 327ci V8, 4-Speed Manual, Dual Quads, Restored in 2018
This 1960 Chevrolet Corvette is a beautifully presented example of the C1 generation, finished in classic red with white coves over black vinyl upholstery, and powered by a replacement 327ci V8 mated to a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 3.70:1 limited-slip differential. Originally refurbished under prior ownership, the car received a full repaint, re-chromed trim, and mechanical updates to ensure strong performance and period-correct presentation.
Restoration work included stripping and refinishing the fiberglass body in 2018, along with replacing the hood, weatherstripping, and various fasteners. The chrome bumpers and pillar trim were also re-plated, giving the exterior a fresh, highly polished look. This Corvette retains its white removable hardtop, spinner-style 15” steel wheels wrapped in new Coker Classic whitewall tires (mounted in 2023), and a full dual-exhaust system that exits through the rear bumpers.
Dual Quad 327ci V8, 4-Speed Manual, and Recent Service
Under the hood, the 327ci V8—sourced from a 1964 Corvette—is equipped with dual Carter four-barrel carburetors, Corvette-script finned valve covers, and a polished air cleaner lid. Recent work by Corvette Mike in Anaheim, California, included rebuilding the carburetors, replacing the fuel lines, fitting a new radiator and coolant hoses, and converting the ignition to Pertronix electronic ignition. A new clutch and resurfaced flywheel were installed in 2023, and the car is mechanically dialed in for reliable road use.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a close-ratio 4-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip rear end, giving the car a lively, engaging driving experience—true to its high-performance intent.
Refreshed Interior and Driving Equipment
Inside, the cabin presents well with black vinyl bucket seats, color-matched dash and door panels, and vintage-style features including a Wonder Bar push-button radio, dash-mounted rearview mirror, lap belts, and analog clock. A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, tachometer, and full auxiliary gauges. The odometer shows 559 miles, around 200 of which have been added by the current owner; true mileage is unknown due to the age of the vehicle.
The car is also equipped with unassisted front disc brakes, rear drums, and a modified kingpin repaired in 2023 during a front-end alignment.
Summary
This 1960 Corvette is a well-sorted and visually striking C1 example with tasteful upgrades and thoughtful restoration. The 327ci V8 with dual quads, 4-speed manual, and classic red/white color scheme all contribute to its high desirability, while the inclusion of a white hardtop, rechromed brightwork, and recent service history make it an attractive option for collectors and drivers alike.
Offering the timeless style of a first-generation Corvette with additional performance and reliability enhancements, this is a turn-key classic ready to be enjoyed.
